Program Note

Two Irish Tunes is a blend of the melodic material of two Irish folk songs: Londonderry Air (popularized as Danny Boy) and Galway Shawl. Exploring the dramatic themes and musical elements of both folk songs, Two Irish Tunes includes spectral orchestration to mimic traditional Irish instruments. The piece is lyrical with many exposed solo/small group moments.
